What is a bucks party?

A bucks party, also known as a Stag night or a Bachelor party, is an outing organised for the groom-to-be to celebrate his last night of freedom with his best friends before getting married. It's usually a male-exclusive affair, although there has been a recent trend to organise a joint bucks and hens party.

Traditionally, the bucks night involves some alcoholic drinking, and often gambling and general 'bonding' activities. This includes anything from playing poker in someone's living room to renting VIP lounge for the evening in one of the local casino's. Strippers are also often included in this kind of social gathering as part of the entertainment.

Organising a bucks party is usually left up to the groom's closest friends and family members with some input from him too. A typical bachelor night starts off as early as 8pm until late or even very early morning if people have booked accommodation, although this time frame can be adjusted depending on the age range of guests in attendance and if there is any prior employment related obligations on behalf of them which might require them to be at work in the morning hours.

There are several options when it comes to deciding on a venue or activity for a bucks party. Common choices may include having dinner at an upscale restaurant, hosting barbecues at someone's house or perhaps chartering a boat for an evening cruise around town so that everyone can enjoy some drinks and picturesque view as they thank their friend for such an unforgettable experience before his big day.
